I’m not sure this is revolutionary, but its pretty darn cool. I think it would be better if I could stand inside the sphere and play Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament in a fully submersed battle scene. :)

BigDog - Came across this video from a post from Shai Agassi. The balance and agility of this thing is amazing. For a second, I caught myself actually feeling sorry for it when the dude was trying to kick it over and when it was slipping on the ice.

The Most Advanced Quadruped Robot on Earth
BigDog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics family of robots. It is a quadruped robot that walks, runs, and climbs on rough terrain and carries heavy loads. BigDog is powered by a gasoline engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. BigDog’s legs are articulated like an animal’s, and have compliant elements that absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next. BigDog is the size of a large dog or small mule, measuring 1 meter long, 0.7 meters tall and 75 kg weight.

My apologies for the RSS spam this weekend.

Tip of the day: Don’t set Tumblr to import additional content from a feed that is a piped aggregate feed including the original Tumblr blog feed. This causes an infinite fail loop! :)

The Illusion of Completeness - embrace the "sketchy" prototype

As Joel Spolsky explains in his post The Iceberg Secret, Revealed, the user interface usually represents less than 10% of the actual functionality of the entire application. You know how an iceberg is 90% underwater? Well, most software is like that too — there's a pretty user interface that takes about 10% of the work, and read more..

Science Debate 2008

My top issue in the upcoming U.S. presidential election is our focus on science and technology. Currently, we have an increasing attitude of entitlement, complacency, and whininess about our jobs being outsourced and our dollar value declining. Instead, we need to increase motivation and resources to be technology innovators and world leaders in read more..

D. student at Carnegie Mellon, and his innovations are both simple and brilliant.  He is doing work similar to Majority read more..

Enterprise Tyranny Of The Or

There is an interesting battle going on between the Enterprise Irregulars vs. Robert Scoble and Nick Carr about the lack of sexiness in enterprise software. In Scoble's original post, he asks if anyone knows how to make business software sexy. Fellow Irregular, Michael Krigsman, responded in his blog: Enterprise software is all about helping read more..

I heart my cubicle

OK, most of us really don't "love" our cubicles, but here are some photos of where we work and our SDN wall of fame. Now that we have met some of our fellow SDN-crazies, we would like to "put a place with the face" and see where you work. Maybe we can get the SDN crew to award some extra points for the most creative work areas. Of course, you have to show off your SDN spirit to qualify. :)
